The Rotaract Club of Accra-East Legon successfully embarked on the Hope for Aboabo, Growing with You Project at Amanase Aboabo D/A Basic School, a community-centered initiative aimed at improving education, empowering lives, and bringing hope to the Aboabo community.
The project was born out of a desire to support pupils and families within the community after identifying challenges affecting teaching, learning, and access to basic educational resources. Through collaboration, partnership, and volunteerism, the initiative transformed into a meaningful intervention that impacted both the school and the wider community.
As part of the project, the club donated 30 dual desks, 25 kindergarten chairs, clothing, and educational materials including books, pens, pencils, erasers, and mathematical sets to support effective teaching and learning.
Beyond donations, the project focused on empowerment and sustainability. Vocational training sessions in beads making, juice making, and pastry making were organized for community members to equip them with practical income-generating skills.
Members, partners, and community volunteers also participated in the painting of the classroom block, helping create a brighter and more conducive learning environment for the pupils. Trees were planted within the school compound to promote environmental sustainability, while students participated in a carpentry session where they learned about the making of the dual desks. Mentorship sessions were also held to encourage and inspire the pupils academically and personally.
Speaking on the impact of the project, the Headmaster Mr. Amanor, of the school expressed appreciation to the club and its partners, noting that the intervention would greatly improve learning conditions and motivate the pupils to take their education seriously.
The Chief of the community also commended the initiative, describing it as a sign of hope and development for Aboabo while encouraging the community to protect and maintain the resources provided.
According to the President of the Rotaract Club of Accra-East Legon, Shafeeq Nsiah, the project represented more than donations.
“Hope for Aboabo was about growing with the community, inspiring hope, and creating sustainable impact that will continue to benefit the children and residents for years to come.”
Partners involved in the project also highlighted the importance of collaboration in achieving meaningful and lasting community impact.
The project was made possible through the support and partnership of the Rotaract Club of Tema-Meridian, Future on My Back, and Kaira-Excel Trading.
The Hope for Aboabo Project stands as a reminder that when people come together with compassion and purpose, meaningful change becomes possible.
