At Rotaract Club of Accra East Legon, we believe that a clean environment is essential for a healthy and thriving community. In line with this belief, we partnered with the La-Nkwantanang Municipal Assembly to carry out a massive cleanup exercise at Madina Redco. This initiative was aimed at promoting environmental sustainability, improving sanitation, and raising awareness about proper waste disposal practices.
A Community Effort for a Greener Future
On the day of the cleanup, our dedicated Rotaractors, together with members of the La-Nkwantanang Municipal Assembly and community volunteers, gathered with gloves, brooms, rakes, shovels, and waste bins, ready to take action. The cleanup exercise focused on clearing plastic waste, desilting gutters, and properly disposing of refuse to improve hygiene conditions in the area.
Through teamwork and dedication, we were able to make a significant impact, leaving the environment cleaner and educating residents on the importance of keeping their surroundings free from waste. The collaboration with the municipal assembly also helped in ensuring that waste collected was properly disposed of, preventing further pollution.
Participating Clubs
This impactful initiative was made even more successful through the participation of Rotaract Clubs from various institutions, including:
- Rotaract Club of Wisconsin International University College
- Rotaract Club of University of Professional Studies
- Rotaract Club of University of Ghana
- Rotaract Club of University of Health and Allied Science
- Rotaract Club of Labone
Their active involvement and dedication played a key role in making this project a success.
Beyond Cleaning – Advocacy and Awareness
Beyond the physical cleanup, our project also served as a platform to educate the public on waste management practices, recycling, and the need for continuous community engagement in maintaining a clean environment. Volunteers engaged with residents and business owners, encouraging them to adopt eco-friendly habits such as proper waste segregation and reducing plastic use.
Commitment to Environmental Sustainability
This cleanup project at Madina Redco is part of our club’s broader efforts to champion environmental conservation. We recognize that keeping our communities clean is an ongoing responsibility, and we are committed to organizing more initiatives to ensure long-term sustainability.
We extend our appreciation to the La-Nkwantanang Municipal Assembly for their support and to all volunteers who participated in making this initiative a success. Together, we can create cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable communities.
Stay tuned for more impactful projects as we continue to serve with dedication and purpose.
