Introduction to Rotary and Rotaract
Rotary International, with its global network of over 1.2 million members, has been a driving force behind sustainable change since its founding in 1905. Rotaract, a branch of Rotary for young adults, aims to develop leadership and professional skills among its members while promoting service above self.


History of RoCAEL

  • The Rotaract Club of Accra-East Legon (RoCAEL) was chartered in 2020 with the goal of uniting young professionals and students in East Legon for service, fellowship, and personal development. Since its founding, RoCAEL has grown into a strong force for good, executing impactful projects across diverse communities in Ghana, particularly in education, healthcare, and economic empowerment.

Areas of Rotary Focus

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

  • FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
  • SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
  • THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business and community life;
  • FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

International Literacy Day with school kids

Empowering Minds, Shaping Futures: Celebrating International Literacy Day

The beneficiaries, in groups, presented on a case study highlighting the various ways of using resources within one’s reach including television and radio programmes to improve and build on their competencies.To support the academic needs of the pupils, mathematical sets were donated by the club to each pupil who participated in the event.

polio immunization drive

Collaborate with team members to rally support
The Rotaract Club of Accra East Legon recently took part in the Ghana National Polio Immunization Day, which began from September 2022 on October 8, 2022, within the Accra Metropolis.

In partnership with the Ghana Health Service’s district Disease Control Directorate at the Mamprobi Polyclinic, the club, which is under Rotary International, visited four communities, namely, Korle-Bu, Korle Gonno, Chorkor and Mamprobi.

Rotary International has been working to eradicate polio for more than 35 years. The group’s goal of ridding the world of this disease is closer than ever.......

donation to Kitase Basic School

Creating an enabling environment for our young ones

The Rotary Club of Accra-West and the Rotaract Club of Accra-East Legon have today January 27, 2021, has donated educational materials and Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the Kitase Basic School. Some of the items donated include science sets and copies of 'Courtesy for Boys and Girls'. Kitase is close to the Peduase Lodge and Aburi in the Eastern Region of Ghana.


The donation is in line with one of the seven focus areas of Rotary International in supporting basic education and literacy. Other focus areas include disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, economic and community development and environment. .....

ROCAEL provides free medical screening

Collaborate with team members to rally support

Over two hundred (400) residents of Madina and its surrounding areas in the Greater Accra Region have benefitted from a free medical screening organised by the Rotaract Club of Accra-East Legon (ROCAEL) on Saturday, May 25, 2024.

This initiative was supported by Greenland Medical Supplies, Indus, Malikem, besaPharma, Real-Aid Medical Supplies, Diagnostic Centre, and the Rotary Satellite Club of Accra-East McCarthy Hill.

Professional health officers conducted comprehensive medical consultations, providing appropriate medications, educating beneficiaries, and promoting overall well-being within the community.....
